Job summary

Greene County Public Library is seeking a Circulation Clerk in Cedarville, OH. The role involves checking materials in/out, collecting fines, and assisting patrons at a busy community library location.

Responsibilities include processing new and donated materials, shelving support, and maintaining circulation records. The position requires 20 hours/week with daytime, evening and weekend shifts, and offers opportunities for training and growth within the library system.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide knowledgeable customer service to assist patrons in a timely manner.
• Ability to communicate clearly and read printed and on-screen information.
• Proven computers skills and ability to input information into an automated system.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and handle difficult situations.
• Some knowledge of library clerical principles, methods, techniques and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Checks out and checks in materials using the computerized system; collects fines; handles renewals and reservations.
• Sorts materials for shelving; manages book-drop and returns.
• Processes new, donated, and withdrawn materials; repairs items as needed.
• Assists patrons in locating books and materials; handles hold shelf and paging tasks.
• Performs opening/closing procedures and daily operational duties.
• Attends trainings to maintain knowledge; keeps staff informed via email and meetings.
