Job summary

University of Richmond is seeking a Project Student Assistant to support library users with detail-oriented tasks, shelving, LMS use, and resource organization on campus.

The role requires independence, regular updates to supervision, and a minimum of eight hours per week including weekends, with duties spanning holds, reserves, and basic tech troubleshooting within the library system.

Qualifications

• Experience following library policies and safeguarding patron confidentiality.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a library setting.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage competing tasks.
• Proficiency with library software and hardware troubleshooting (printers, scanners, etc.).
• Willingness to lead and train other student workers when needed.

Responsibilities

• Shelve discharged materials according to LC classification and prepare book trucks for shelving.
• Use LMS and public catalogs to locate, edit records, and identify errors.
• Maintain shelf order, run shelf reads, and create reports as required.
• Process holds and create work orders for circulation review or repair.
• Assist with loanable library equipment and digital delivery services.
• Prepare items for return to their home locations and assist with reserve shelves.
