Job summary

Drew University seeks a part-time Learning Support Specialist for the Office of Accessibility Resources in Madison, New Jersey. The role focuses on case management, academic coaching, and advocacy for Drew Learning Support Program students, emphasizing academic skills, self-advocacy, independence, and personal development.

This in-person position typically entails 15–25 hours per week, with the schedule set each semester.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 1-3 years in an educational setting working with persons with disabilities.
  • Master’s degree preferred in related field.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of students in the DLSP program.
  • Provide direct instruction in learning strategies, study skills, and adaptive technology during weekly student meetings.
  • Assist students in locating and utilizing campus resources and services.
  • Communicate with faculty, staff, and parents regarding students’ needs, goals, and progress.
  • Collaborate with faculty to ensure students are accommodated and supported in the classroom.
  • Monitor student progress and assist with academic advising in collaboration with academic advisors.
  • Assist the OAR Director with planning and implementing the DLSP and Drew Summer Transition Program.
  • Create and implement workshops addressing student needs and supporting academic success.
  • Maintain records and database information and provide reports on attendance, resource utilization, and progress.
  • Assist with DLSP recruitment by attending Open Houses and other events.
  • Participate in professional development and weekly OAR staff meetings.
