Job summary

Drew University seeks a part-time Learning Support Specialist for the Office of Accessibility Resources (OAR). The Specialist provides case management, academic coaching, and advocacy to students in the Drew Learning Support Program, focusing on academic skills, self-advocacy, independence, and personal development.

This in-person role typically works 15-25 hours per week; the schedule is set each semester and reports to the Director of Accessibility Resources.

Qualifications

  • The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree; a Master's in related fields is preferred.
  • The role requires 1–3 years of experience in an educational setting with persons with disabilities.
  • Experience with academic coaching models and collaboration with campus resources is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload of students in the DLSP program.
  • Provide direct instruction in learning strategies and adaptive technology during weekly meetings.
  • Assist students in locating and utilizing campus resources and services.
  • Communicate with faculty, staff, and parents about student needs and progress.
  • Collaborate with faculty to ensure appropriate accommodations in the classroom.
  • Monitor student progress and assist with academic advising alongside advisors.
  • Assist with planning and implementing the DLSP and Summer Transition Program.
  • Create and implement workshops addressing student needs and academic success.
  • Maintain records and report attendance, resource use, and progress.
  • Assist with DLSP recruitment at Open Houses and events.
  • Participate in professional development related to disability services.
