Job summary

Dollar General Corporation seeks a lead Cashier/Stocker to support store operations, customer service, and merchandising. In absence of management, you will authorize refunds, manage cash, and ensure store security while maintaining plan-o-grams and displays.

The role focuses on greeting customers, stocking, unloading trucks, and performing closing/opening tasks under supervision. Strong math and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and supervisor accountability.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register functions and basic scanning equipment.
• Understanding of safety, cash control policies, and loss prevention.
• Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock merchandise according to store processes.
• Restock, face merchandise, and build displays; maintain clean store areas.
• Assist customers in locating merchandise and operate the register to complete sales.
• Maintain cashier accountability, counts, deposits, and balance drawers.
• Open/close store as directed by Area Manager; supervise in absence of managers.
• Monitor cash levels, supplies, and safety compliance; support plan-o-gram execution.
