Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a dependable Cashier/Stocker to perform checkout duties, stock shelves, and lead operations in the absence of store management. The role emphasizes customer service, loss prevention, and adherence to SOPs across daily store activities.

You will unload trucks, stock merchandise, manage plan-o-grams, and help maintain a clean, secure store. Strong math, cash handling, and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks according to the prescribed process for the store.
• Receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock merchandise and rotate/facilitate displays on shelves.
• Restock returned and recovered merchandise.
• Assist with plan-o-gram implementation and maintenance.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise.
• Maintain clean and organized front-end and stockroom areas.
• Operate cash register and scanner to total purchases and bag items.
• Provide cashier support including making change and deposits when needed.
• Open and close the store under guidance from Area Manager.
