Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist for a full-time, 40-hour-per-week role at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL. The position requires working 12:30pm–9pm, including every other weekend, and performing venipuncture and specimen processing with a focus on patient-first service.

The role involves order entry in multiple systems, specimen handling, and collaborative teamwork to ensure accurate lab results and excellent patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification or CMA, or 1+ year phlebotomy experience in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age-related standards and department policies.
• Demonstrates AIDET model and prioritizes patient safety to reduce errors.
• Receives and reviews physician orders and enters accurate lab orders per procedures.
• Performs post-phlebotomy patient communication and care as needed.
• Processes specimens efficiently to maintain sample integrity and timely transport.
• Maintains refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA records as required.
