Job summary

Mountain Empire Older Citizens Inc. seeks a Part-time Kitchen Services Assistant in Big Stone Gap, VA to support daily meal preparation and activities in the PACE kitchen.

You will monitor temperatures, inventories, and maintain a sanitary environment, collaborating with dietitians and center staff. The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, strong communication skills, and ServSafe Manager certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; read, write, and interpret policies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• ServSafe Manager certification required.
• Excellent record keeping and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly kitchen.
• Monitor freezer and cooler temperatures.
• Monitor hot food temperatures.
• Monitor inventory and rotate stock.
• Assist with meal and snack preparation.
• Prepare food, trays, wash dishes, and sanitize kitchen.
• Use protective gear as required.
• Report equipment or cleaning product needs to supervisor.
• Follow infection control and universal precautions to ensure a sanitary environment.
• Ensure compliance with Virginia Department of Health requirements.
• Follow proper reporting and handwashing procedures.
• Assist with ordering of food and supplies.
• Answer kitchen phone and take messages.
