Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly kitchen.
  • Monitor freezer and cooler temperatures.
  • Monitor hot food temperatures.
  • Monitor inventory and rotate stock.
  • Assist with meal and snack preparation.
  • Prepare food, trays, wash dishes, and sanitize kitchen.
  • Use protective gear as required.
  • Report equipment or cleaning product needs to supervisor.
  • Follow infection control and universal precautions to ensure a sanitary environment.
  • Ensure compliance with Virginia Department of Health requirements.
  • Follow proper reporting and handwashing procedures.
  • Assist with ordering of food and supplies.
  • Answer kitchen phone and take messages.

Part Time Manual Labor Big Stone Gap, VA, US

Salary Range: $15.00 To $16.46 Hourly

The Kitchen Services Assistant works closely with Dietician, Nutrition Services, and Center Manager in daily meal preparation and daily activities of the PACE kitchen in compliance with established polices and guidelines. Assists in monitoring the working condition of all kitchen equipment. Assists with maintaining clean, safe, and orderly environment in kitchen. Assists with inventory, ordering of food and supplies for daily operations. Performs other PACE duties as assigned. Exhibits agency values in the workplace and in the community.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly environment in kitchen
  • Monitor freezer and cooler temperatures
  • Monitor hot food temperatures
  • Monitor supply and food inventories and rotate stock as needed
  • Assists with preparation of meals and snacks
  • Prepares food, trays, washes dishes, cleans/sanitizes the kitchen according to health standards
  • Utilize protective gear in all appropriate functions
  • Reports equipment/cleaning product needs and/or malfunctions to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Follow infection control and universal precaution procedures to ensure a sanitary environment is achieved at all times
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety of kitchen in compliance with Virginia Department of Health
  • Follow proper reporting, handwashing procedures and techniques.
  • Assists with ordering of food and supplies for daily operations
  • Assists with answering kitchen phone and take messages as needed
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Kitchen Services Assistant position requires good interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to interact positively with co-workers and the elderly.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A
QUALIFICATIONS:

The Kitchen Services Assistant must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and must be able to read, write, and interpret policies and procedures and follow/dispense oral or written directions. Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with a variety of people face to face or by phone are required. ServSafe Manager certification course required. Excellent record keeping and recording, documentation skills are essential.
