Job summary

Eastern Star Church's ROCK Community Center for Youth & Children seeks a Kitchen Assistant to support the Head Chef and kitchen team in a fast-paced, faith-based program. This part-time role focuses on food preparation, sanitation, dishwashing, and safe handling to keep meals flowing for youth and program participants.

Requirements include a high school diploma and a current ServSafe Food Handler certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current ServSafe Food Handler certification required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong organizational, time-management and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods in a fast-paced kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and sanitize food preparation surfaces, equipment, utensils and stations.
• Wash, peel, chop and prepare fruits, vegetables and ingredients as directed by Head Chef.
• Assist Head Chef with daily food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Support meal preparation, plating, and distribution during service.
• Assist with replenishing ingredients, supplies and equipment during service.
• Move food products from storage to the kitchen as needed.
