Job summary

Vassar College's Gordon Commons is seeking a Kitchen Worker to support a high-volume dining operation. The role handles food prep, dishwashing, cleaning, stocking, and serving while upholding sanitation and HACCP standards.

Schedule includes Wednesday/Thursday 1pm-5pm, Friday/Saturday 1pm-5:30pm, Sunday 11am-3:30am (21.5 hours/week). This part-time position offers growth within Vassar's dining services and a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 30 pounds; team lift >50 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a shift with repetitive motion.
• Communicate effectively in English, including speaking, reading and writing.
• Work collaboratively with staff, students/customers, and management.
• Follow Health Department regulations and food safety standards as laid out by Vassar.
• Preferred ServSafe certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform food preparation, dish and ware washing, cleaning and stocking as needed.
• Serve food according to safety guidelines and monitor freshness and quality.
• Maintain sanitation and proper storage using FIFO and date/label products.
• Operate kitchen equipment and dish room machinery as directed.
• Assist with cleaning, organizing, and restocking throughout the shift.
