Job summary

Middlebury College is seeking a temporary part-time food service associate to support Retail Food Operations through community table production, grab-and-go service, sanitation, and related duties. Weekday lunch-hour availability is required, and the position is hourly with no benefits.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old and a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience in food service, grocery, restaurant, or related field or combination of education and experience.
• Good communication and ability to follow instructions in a team environment.
• Knowledge of safe food handling practices; ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food for cooking using broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and other kitchen equipment.
• Lead food production tasks including cutting vegetables, meats and cheeses; assist with oven/toaster preparation.
• Follow standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen procedures.
• Occasionally serve alcohol in accordance with applicable laws and certification requirements.
• Assist with FOH operations and basic cash operations when needed.
• Maintain proper food storage, handling, and sanitation; assist with receiving and deliveries.
• Keep BOH sanitation standards, temperature logs, cleaning checklists, and equipment clean.
