Job summary

Peralta Community College District seeks qualified Part-Time Faculty to provide high-quality instruction and student support across day, evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at its colleges. Assignments are made as needed to advance equity, student success, and academic excellence.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree or higher with two years of professional experience, or an associate degree with six years of professional experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher with two years of professional experience, OR Associate degree with six years of professional experience.
• Demonstrated understanding of diverse student backgrounds and equity in instruction.
• Commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching and ongoing professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved outlines and student learning outcomes.
• Prepare and deliver effective, student-centered instruction using evidence-based teaching practices.
• Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments.
• Evaluate student performance in a timely and equitable manner and maintain accurate academic records.
• Submit grades and other required reports by established deadlines.
• Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
• Maintain regular communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Utilize the District’s learning management system and other instructional technologies as appropriate.
• Comply with District policies, collective bargaining agreements, accreditation standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
• Participate in department meetings, professional development, and other college activities as appropriate for part-time faculty.
