Job summary

Peralta Community College District seeks qualified Part-Time Faculty to provide high-quality instruction and student support aligned with the District's mission of advancing equity, student success, and academic excellence. Assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may include day, evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at any of the District's colleges.

Qualifications

• Possession of any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, OR
• Possession of any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
• Understanding of, sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of Peralta Colleges' students, faculty, staff and community.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved course outlines and student learning outcomes.
• Prepare and deliver effective, student-centered instruction using evidence-based teaching practices.
• Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments.
• Evaluate student performance in a timely and equitable manner and maintain accurate academic records.
• Submit grades and other required reports by established deadlines.
• Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
• Maintain regular communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Utilize the District's learning management system and other instructional technologies as appropriate.
• Comply with District policies, collective bargaining agreements, accreditation standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
• Participate in department meetings, professional development, and other college activities as appropriate for part-time faculty.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher + 2 years professional experience

Associate degree + 6 years professional experience
