Job summary

Nevada State University is seeking qualified candidates for adjunct faculty positions in the Speech Pathology Program. Successful candidates will teach in-person, online or hybrid courses covering various topics such as speech sound disorders, audiology, and neurology.

Candidates will be compensated at the rate of $1,000 per credit hour, with courses ranging from 1-3 credits. A strong commitment to teaching and mentoring is essential.

Nevada State University actively maintains an open pool of qualified individuals to be selected on an as‑needed basis by the department to fulfill part‑time temporary instructional needs and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Nevada State invites applications for an open pool of adjunct faculty for in‑person, online or hybrid courses in the Speech Pathology Program. Course teaching could be undergraduate or graduate level, and include, but are not limited to, speech sound disorders, audiology, neurology, speech and hearing communication science. Clinical supervision opportunities are also available at our Nevada State on‑campus clinic and/or our RiteCare clinic in downtown Las Vegas. Individuals who are collaborative and innovative in their approach to preparing speech pathologists are strongly encouraged to apply.

Adjunct faculty members are compensated at the rate of $1,000 per credit hour. Courses range from 1‑3 credits.

Core Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate content using authentic examples, challenge students to think critically, differentiate instruction, and teach in a multi-modal fashion.
• Scaffold instruction effectively by providing prompts and cues to help students understand content and apply the skills, as well as use a variety of resources to teach classes (e.g., videos, online simulations, guest speakers, clinical case studies, application).
• Present content and engage students effectively online and/or in person and assess students’ progress/effectiveness.
• Demonstrate a commitment to planning and preparation of courses.
• Practicum supervisors will have exemplary writing skills including the ability to concisely prepare observation reports that result in changes and lead to direct action that the students can understand and implement.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech‑Language & Hearing Sciences or closely‑related field.
• Active Certificate of Clinical Competence – ASHA CCCs.
• Evidence of a strong commitment to teaching, educational excellence, and mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment‑related visas).

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Speech‑Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech‑Language & Hearing Sciences or closely‑related field, particularly for graduate level teaching (not required for clinical supervision).
• Demonstrated commitment to active learning and innovative teaching.
• Previous teaching experience.
