Job summary

The Camp Bernie YMCA in Port Murray, NJ is seeking a part-time exempt Housekeeper to help maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all camp buildings. The role reports to the Maintenance Director and is paid hourly.

Responsibilities include following safety rules, inspecting grounds, completing projects, operating vehicles and equipment safely, and collaborating with staff and participants. A high school diploma and clean background are required, with paid training provided and meals on site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Clean criminal background and a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Demonstrated strong work habits, including reliability, punctuality, effective time management, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety rules and regulations to minimize risk and promote a safe environment for employees, participants, and visitors.
• Regularly inspect property and grounds for unsafe conditions, remove hazards when possible, and promptly report safety or security concerns.
• Complete assigned projects and make appropriate decisions based on experience and skill level. Notify the Maintenance Director of repair needs beyond scope of authority.
• Safely operate vehicles and equipment in compliance with established safety procedures; identify and report mechanical issues requiring further attention.
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with staff, participants, and external stakeholders; communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals.
• Complete daily work tasks agreed upon with the Maintenance Director.
• Utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols when handling cleaning chemicals, tools, or equipment; maintain appropriate body mechanics to prevent injury.
• Perform other duties as assigned
