Job summary

El Capitan Hotel in Merced, California is seeking a part-time Host to welcome guests and set the tone for their visit. You will be the first point of contact, using strong communication to resolve concerns and coordinate with team members to deliver seamless service.

Responsibilities

• Be attentive to the entrance and aware of guests entering and exiting the building
• Offer greetings to guests upon entering and exiting the space; make each feel important and welcome
• View guest books before arrival and create guest profiles to enhance their experience
• Liaise with supervisor to plot reservations and seating plans
• Escort guests to tables and communicate notes to staff
• Present menus and answer questions, making recommendations
• Maintain a warm, inviting atmosphere and keep areas clean and organized
• Stock washrooms and work areas according to standards
• Clear and reset tables and assist with event setup/breakdown
• Provide accurate wait times and update reservation system
• Know the outlet's neighborhood to direct guests to parking and activities
• Respond to guest comments promptly and escalate as needed
• Communicate with all departments to meet outlet needs
• Maintain high cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards
• Be flexible to work in other areas as needed
