Job summary

Fairmont Grand Del Mar invites you to join as an Amaya Host, greeting guests in a polished, professional manner and coordinating seating with reservations. You will anticipate needs, relay guest profiles to servers and management, and maintain a pristine hostess stand, ensuring excellent service in a luxury setting.

The role requires food safety knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to multitask while upholding California serving guidelines.

Qualifications

• Food Handlers Card required.
• High School graduate.
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
• Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Must possess basic math skills and the ability to use a calculator.
• Must possess basic computer skills.
• Ability to solve problems and make rational decisions.
• Knowledge of Restaurant operations, its services, and facilities.
• Must have superior guest service abilities as well as a complete understanding of California serving guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a positive, polite, and professional manner.
• Maintain a proactive approach to solving guest questions or problems.
• Anticipate guests’ needs and respond with urgency.
• Display a congenial appearance and be well groomed at all times.
• Communicate reservations and guest comments to management and servers.
• Welcome guests to the restaurant and coordinate seating with reservations.
• Answer all phone calls at the hostess stand.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of hostess stand and entryway.
• Oversee maintenance of reservation and hostess equipment, software and supplies.
• Relay guest profiles and expectations to servers and management.
