Job summary

University of the District of Columbia Community College (UDC-CC) seeks part-time instructors to teach Hospitality and Tourism courses such as Guest Services, Front Desk, Breakfast Attendant, Food Safety, and related subjects. Instructors must prepare relevant curricula, deliver engaging lessons, and assess student performance.

Incumbents will teach according to the schedule, use the LMS, and maintain records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or licensure/certification in subject area or combination of education and corporate/industry experience.
• Prior teaching experience or must demonstrate evidence of teaching potential and/or corporate/industry training.

Responsibilities

• Teaches assigned courses as specified in the schedule and course contract.
• Evaluates and selects texts and instructional materials; prepares course materials and lesson plans.
• Provides students an approved syllabus with objectives, learning outcomes, and evaluation criteria.
• Uses LMS to post syllabus and communicate with students.
• Delivers course content using varied teaching styles with engaging assignments.
• Maintains enrollment/attendance records and submits rosters and grade sheets on time.
• Creates a conducive classroom environment and manages classroom behavior.
• Encourages course evaluations and uses feedback for improvement.
• Attends meetings and orientation sessions to align with institutional policies.
• Meets with Dean or Department Chair to discuss progress and curriculum development.
