Job summary

The Glenview Park District is seeking a Program Interpreter to bring history and science to life for visitors at the Grove National Historic Landmark and Air Station Prairie. This year‑round, part‑time position involves presenting engaging educational programs, guiding tours, and assisting with family and school programs.

You will work both independently and with a team, maintain materials and spaces, and support program growth by recruiting volunteers and promoting events.

Qualifications

• Experience at museums or living history sites is highly desired.
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to provide educational programming and work with diverse audiences.
• Comfortable working outdoors and walking long periods.
• Willing to handle animals (snakes and turtles) and wear historical clothing.

Responsibilities

• Present educational and entertaining programs.
• Implement programs and special events independently and with the team.
• Maintain program materials and spaces.
• Attend meetings and trainings as required.
• Monitor program implementation and practices.
• Coordinate with staff to run programs on schedule.
• Build positive relations with participants and staff.
• Support program growth by up-selling and recruiting volunteers.
