Job summary

Glenview Park District in Glenview, IL is seeking a diligent Program Interpreter to bring history and science to life for visitors at the Grove National Historic Landmark and Air Station Prairie. The role involves presenting educational programs, working with families and schools, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment.

Activities include history tours, school field trips, nature walks, family programs, birthday parties, and special events.

Qualifications

  • Experience in museums or living history sites is highly desired.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing to teach educational programming to diverse audiences.
  • Able to handle animals (snakes, turtles) and wear historical clothing.
  • Willing to work outdoors and walk long distances.

Responsibilities

  • Present educational and entertaining programs.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to implement programs and events
  • Maintain program materials and spaces.
  • Participate in meetings and trainings as required.
  • Monitor the implementation of programs, policies, and practices.
  • Collaborate with staff to keep programs running on schedule.
  • Build relationships with staff and participants.
  • Support program growth by upselling programs and soliciting volunteers and participants for events.
