Job summary

Montgomery College invites applications for adjunct/part-time history instructors at the Rockville Campus. Positions are reviewed periodically based on enrollment needs; a course listing as TBA does not guarantee an assignment.

Hiring decisions are at management’s discretion and contingent on funds. Part-time faculty may teach up to 11.5 ESH per semester and up to 23 ESH per academic year; summer limit is 10 ESH across both sessions.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in History or a closely-related field.
• Experience teaching at the college level.
• Commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational environment.
• Must have access to a personal computer with virus protection and internet connectivity outside the work location.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
• Successful completion of a background check and degree verification at hire.
• Residence in Maryland or a state with MC payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA) if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Teach World History classes to students located at the Rockville campus.
• Engage with students in a technology rich environment.
• Grade and provide feedback to students in a timely manner to monitor mastery and progress.
• Complete required professional training.
• Follow guidelines from department chair to meet course objectives.
• Communicate in a timely manner with students and the department chair.
• Meet deadlines to submit midterm and final grades.
• Perform other duties as assigned by department chair.
