Job summary

Ridge Valley Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Wilkesboro, NC seeks a dependable Cook to join our dietary team on a part-time basis. You will prepare meals that meet planned menus and resident dietary requirements while following safety and sanitation standards.

The role requires previous cooking experience, preferably in healthcare or senior living, and a ServSafe or food safety certification when applicable. Must be 18+ with a HS diploma or GED preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience, preferably in healthcare, senior living, or institutional settings.
• Current ServSafe or food safety certification preferred/required as applicable.
• Must be at least 18 years old; HS diploma or GED preferred.
• Knowledge of proper food safety, sanitation, and storage practices.
• Ability to follow menus, recipes, and dietary instructions.
• Dependable, organized, and able to work well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Cook meals according to planned menus and resident dietary requirements.
• Follow recipes, portion guidelines, and special diet instructions.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely manner.
• Follow food handling, storage, preparation, and temperature-control procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and work area.
• Comply with state and facility dietary, health, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with dietary and nursing teams to meet residents’ needs.
• Provide friendly, respectful service to residents and coworkers.
• Help maintain a safe and welcoming dining environment.
