Job summary

Kern River Transitional Care Center is seeking a dependable Part-Time Cook to join our dietary team. You will prepare nutritious meals per menus, maintain a sanitary kitchen, and follow portion controls for residents requiring special diets. The role includes serving meals and assisting with dietary tasks as needed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of cooking experience in a hospital or long-term care facility. ServSafe certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience as a cook in a hospital or long-term care facility for at least 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, clean, and sanitary manner.
• Prepare tasteful meals and cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Follow prepared menus and portion control guides.
• Prepare special diets accurately.
• Record food temperatures for meals.
• Prepare pureed foods.
• Cooperate with all departments and supervise dietary staff when needed.
