Job summary

County of San Benito is seeking a part-time GIS Technician to prepare, revise, and maintain geospatial data, maps and related records using GIS in desktop and enterprise environments. The position supports creating visuals for presentations and performing spatial analysis under supervision.

Requirements include one year of GIS experience and an Associate of Arts degree in GIS or related field. A California driver’s license may be required, with disaster worker participation as needed.

Qualifications

• One year of technical GIS experience in data compilation, cartography, data management or spatial analysis.
• Equivalent to an AA degree in GIS or related field; further experience can substitute education.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical services for development and operation of the GIS.
• Scan, digitize documents, update and edit GIS layers.
• Assemble and integrate geographic data into the County GIS and verify accuracy.
• Prepare maps and graphics for presentation.
• Assist staff in creating presentation materials and performing spatial analyses.
