Job summary

San Jose Water Company seeks a GIS Technician I to join our team in Silicon Valley. Under immediate supervision, you will perform entry-level GIS data entry, map creation, and GPS/GIS hardware support as part of our municipal water system operations.

A baccalaureate degree in a related field is required. Candidates should be able to read plans, interpret as-builts, troubleshoot software and hardware, and communicate clearly. Compensation is hourly with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Entry-level GIS duties performed under supervision.
• Ability to interpret plans and enter GIS data accurately.
• Strong written and oral communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret recorded plans to enter data into the GIS.
• Create maps and GIS-related products.
• Correct errors in GIS data and attributes.
