Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nutrition (prior to 2024) or related field.
• Passed the national examination by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or eligible per Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Completes 75 hours of continuing education every five years per CDR.
• Licensed or certified per state requirements.
• Knowledge of regulation standards for comprehensive assessments, care planning, and residents’ rights.
• Ability to teach others regarding nutrition and dietetics.

Responsibilities

• Provide nutrition assessments for admissions, quarterly, annual, wound care, weight changes, and significant changes.
• Provide nutrition education to residents as needed.
• Create and update care plans for nurses/CNAs/CMAs to reference at meals.
• Complete MDS for Section K and CAAs.
• Use nutrition-focused physical exam to identify malnutrition per ASPEN criteria.
• Attend care conference meetings with families to discuss changes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team during weekly clinical meetings.
• Participate in QAPI and Performance Improvement meetings each quarter.
• Perform monthly kitchen inspections and meal service audits.
