Job summary

Tri-County Community Action Agency is seeking a Part-Time Adult Education GED/Pre-GED Preparation Instructor to support adult learners in Reading, Language Arts, Writing, Social Studies and Science. The role focuses on foundational skills and preparing students for GED, with rolling enrollment and daytime, 8–10 hours per week.

The instructor will work under the Assistant Director and in the Education, Employment & Training department, delivering instruction, assessing progress, and supporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum three years' experience in education.
• Ability to identify learning styles and create a positive learning environment.
• Ability to work independently to meet program goals.
• Experience working with at-risk or LD populations is a plus; RI teaching cert is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging instruction in Reading, Language Arts, and Writing, plus basic science/social studies.
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned to GED requirements and workforce goals.
• Conduct assessments to track progress and adjust teaching strategies.
• Provide tutoring and support to help learners transition after GED/postsecondary goals.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment and track attendance and progress.
