Job summary

Tri-County Community Action Agency is recruiting a Part-time Adult Education GED/Pre-GED Instructor to support adult learners in Reading, Language Arts, Writing, and basic science/social studies. The role operates in a rolling enrollment environment, preparing students for GED and post-secondary pathways.

The instructor will develop lessons, assess progress, and collaborate with the Assistant Director to ensure students meet GED and employment goals, with emphasis on workforce readiness and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; minimum three years’ education experience; ability to identify learning styles.
• Ability to work independently to meet program goals; capable of one-to-one settings as needed.
• Experience working with at risk, LD populations (ages 16 to 24) is a plus, RI certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and effective instruction in Reading, Language Arts, and Writing; cover basic science/social studies concepts.
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with GED requirements and workforce goals.
• Assess student progress, identify areas for improvement, and adjust teaching strategies.
• Offer supplemental instruction and tutoring to support post-GED transitions to post-secondary education, military, or employment.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment for diverse adult learners.
• Track attendance, performance, and progress; submit timely reports to the Assistant Director.
• Utilize internet-based programs and distance learning to supplement instruction and track outcomes.
• Incorporate workplace skills such as resume, cover letter, and professional email writing.
• Other duties and tasks as assigned by Assistant Director or Director.
