Job summary

Residence Inn Birmingham Downtown at UAB, part of HEI Hotels & Resorts, is seeking a guest-focused Front Office Associate to warmly welcome guests, assist with check-in/check-out, and handle room allocations and payments. You will use a computer system to manage guest information, issue keys, and provide local recommendations in a fast-paced hotel setting.

Qualified candidates will greet guests, perform registrations, manage charges, and resolve issues with courtesy.

Qualifications

• Hotel experience preferred.
• Ability to perform moderately complex calculations accurately.
• Strong customer service orientation with diplomacy and patience.
• Ability to stand and move throughout front office.
• Proficient input of information using computer systems.
• Ability to recognize and respond to emergencies.
• Ability to build effective working relationships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Adapt communication style to different audiences.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a friendly and sincere welcome, listen, and provide accurate information.
• Complete the registration process, select rooms based on guest needs, and issue keys and materials.
• Verify and imprint credit cards; handle payments and currency exchange; post charges to accounts.
• Answer phones promptly and relay messages; retrieve mail and packages as requested.
• Close guest accounts at checkout and negotiate solutions if needed.
• Address guest complaints, research solutions, and negotiate outcomes.
• Remain calm during emergencies and busy periods, applying sound judgment.
• Maintain attendance and be available for regular shifts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
