Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies in Michigan is seeking a Part Time floating Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant to cover the Central Region. The role involves ambulatory care within a correctional environment, working with a range of healthcare professionals and security staff to provide basic medical services supervised by a licensed physician.

The position emphasizes responding to emergencies, patient education, documentation, and adherence to safety and infection control policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited NP/PA program.
• Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of employment.
• Experience in Correctional care is preferred but not required.
• Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for physician assistants / Nurse Practitioner.

Responsibilities

• Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
• Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
• Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
• Documents all healthcare contacts.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
• Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
• Attends training and meetings as required.
