Position Overview

Portland Community College invites applications for part‑time faculty positions in the Medical Assisting Program. Eligible candidates will teach courses that begin in Fall 2023 and continue into subsequent semesters.

Eligibility

Applicants must be residents of Oregon or Washington. The college also provides reasonable accommodation to applicants who require it during the hiring process.

Core Qualifications

• Associate degree or three years of experience working directly with Medical Assisting students or in a leadership/training role with new hire MAs.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NHA, NCCT, or AMT.
• Three years experience working as a medical assistant in an ambulatory care setting.
• Required academic credentials: Math 60 or higher, Writing 121 or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Classroom teaching experience.
• Management or supervisory experience.
• Experience in primary care or internal medicine settings.

Compensation & Benefits

Part‑time faculty are paid hourly based on the type of course (lecture, lab, or lecture/lab). Compensation begins at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Faculty may also be eligible for Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans, subject to eligibility criteria.
