Job summary

PCC Portland Community College is seeking experienced, in-person part-time instructors for the Medical Professions program. Candidates must establish residency in Oregon or Washington and support a diverse student body through both online and in-person instruction across multiple campuses.

Ideal candidates will have specific healthcare qualifications, including degrees and relevant certifications, with a minimum of three years' experience in a healthcare setting. The position also provides part-time faculty compensation based on a step schedule and eligibility for Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be residents of Oregon or Washington and be able to establish residency in one of those states.
• Three years experience in a healthcare facility or organization is required for various courses.
• MP 113 requires degree/cert in EMT/Paramedic/Nursing and AHA BLS Instructor certification; 3 years healthcare experience.
• MP 135 requires Master’s in Pharmaceutical Science/ Pharmacology and 3 years healthcare experience.
• MP 140 requires bachelor’s in medical/health field or JD and 3 years healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Support a diverse body of students through online and in-person coursework.
• Travel between MP program campuses as necessary.
• Teach and assess students in a variety of health-related courses.

Skills

Bachelor's degree in a medical, allied health, or applied behavioral science

Knowledge of career opportunities and requirements in the health field

Three (3) years experience in a healthcare facility or organization

American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Instructor certification

Completion of AHA Bloodborne Pathogens Training

Job description

Portland Community College is seeking in‑person part‑time instructors for the Medical Professions program. Candidates must be residents of Oregon or Washington and be able to establish residency in one of those states. PCC will provide reasonable accommodation for applicants who require it.

The role may involve travel between the MP program campuses at Cascade, Sylvania, Willow Creek, Hillsboro Center, and Southeast. The instructor will support a diverse body of students through online and in‑person coursework.

Qualifications

• MP 108: Healthcare Career Essentials
  • Bachelor’s degree in a medical, allied health, or applied behavioral science
  • Knowledge of career opportunities and requirements in the health field
  • Three (3) years experience in a healthcare facility or organization
• MP 111: Medical Terminology
  • Bachelor’s degree in a medical or allied health discipline
  • Three (3) years experience in a healthcare facility or organization
• MP 113: Healthcare Provider CPR/AED, First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Degree or certificate from a nationally accredited or state‑approved program in EMT, Paramedic, Nursing, or other healthcare discipline
  • Required American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Instructor certification

Benefits

Part‑time Faculty Compensation is based on a step schedule. New hires begin at Step 1 of the current salary schedule and hourly rates vary by course type (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).

Eligible for Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans. Veterans may qualify for benefits under the Oregon Veterans’ Preference in Public Employment law.
