• Ability to present meal alternatives to residents and guests.
• General knowledge of sanitation and safe food handling practices.
• Meets state health-related requirements.
• Must meet age-related requirements.

• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with residents and staff.

• Ability to prioritize and organize multiple duties.
• Excellent communication, considering body language, listening, paraphrasing and questions.

Responsibilities

• Regular, on-site attendance and punctuality as scheduled.
• Maintain knowledge of Hawthorn Senior Living Employee Handbook.
• Adhere to all policies, procedures and standards.
• Greet residents (and visitors) at table before taking orders or serving.
• Take meal orders and deliver to kitchen.
• Ensure adaptive equipment is available for residents who require it.
• Serve beverages, cereals, soups, salads, meals, and desserts.
• Assist residents with opening packages and cutting foods as necessary.
• Deliver meal trays to resident apartments as needed.
• Bus and clean dining room tables and chairs.
• Vacuum dining room after meals.
• Set tables for next meals.
• Perform side duties and keep beverage center clean.
• Other duties as assigned by Chef/Management.
• May be assigned to other functions on a relief basis.
• Maintain food handlers permit as necessary.
• Maintain CPR and first aid certification as necessary.
