Job summary

Hawthorn Senior Living seeks a versatile housekeeper and dining assistant to maintain resident apartments and serve meals with courtesy and friendliness. This universal worker will be cross-trained in other positions as directed by the supervisor and will follow Hawthorn Senior Living procedures to support residents and staff.

The role emphasizes cleanliness, safe food handling, clear communication, and teamwork in a busy community setting.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to perform housekeeping duties following sanitation standards and guidelines.
• Ability to communicate clearly with residents about their apartments.
• Ability to present meal options to residents and guests.
• General knowledge of sanitation and safe food handling practices.
• Demonstrates patient and creative attitude with ability to think outside the box.
• Able to communicate effectively in English with residents, guests and staff.
• Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Takes responsibility for maintaining knowledge of Hawthorn Senior Living Employee Handbook.
• Cleans resident apartments according to Hawthorn guidelines (vacuum, spot-clean, dust, bathroom, kitchenette, trash removal, linen changes, windows, deep cleans).
• Cleans community common areas (vacuum, mop, dust, restrooms, trash, windows, deep cleans).
• Greets residents, takes orders, serves meals, assists with opening packages and delivery of meal trays.
• Maintains food handlers permit as required by regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
