REPORTS TO: Director, Perth Amboy Center
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with supervision of evening operations/Saturday staff, providing support to Middlesex College and non-enrolled students and faculty. Responsible for opening and closing the building on Saturdays and evenings.
- Helps administrators with planning, scheduling, and execution of information sessions/events, internally and externally.
- Plans, coordinates, and presents financial education workshops for cohorts of traditional and non-traditional students, such as how to pay for college; completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and Alternate Financial Aid application; and searching and applying for private scholarships.
- Reviews financial aid obligations with students and helps them complete financial aid documents during the verification process.
- May provide support with academic advising to selected cohort such as High School to College Transition students.
- Screens and refers students in special cohorts to the Edison main campus for additional support (GED (Graduation Equivalent Degree) program, community resource area, tutoring, library, disability services, personal, and academic counseling, EOF (Educational Opportunity Fund) etc.).
- Assists with coordination in putting together events onsite and coordinates refreshment set ups, signage, hosting, and equipment troubleshooting.
- Assists in promoting the New Brunswick Center's learning opportunities to the community during fairs and events.
- Administers non-credit BASK ESL (English as Second Language) tests and assists non-credit students with course registration and payment.
- Assists students with applying for emergency basic needs assistance and actively records data. Advocates for students to visit the Edison main campus as appropriate.
- May assist with content for flyers, information sessions etc., and coordination of final work with the media services and marketing departments.
- Works collaboratively with other staff members to provide students with resources (food, Chromebook, community resources).
- Provides administrative support to the front office staff during peak times as needed.
- Actively collects data, surveys, and plays key role in making recommendations for change.
- Prepares weekly, monthly, and semester reports.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) years of experience within higher education working directly with students
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Strong PC skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and enterprise resource planning tools
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with diverse populations
- Experience with Zoom, MS Teams, and similar virtual conferencing
- Ability to travel locally
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working at a community college
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
SCHEDULE: Up to 20 hours per week
Monday through Thursday, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Some flexibility in work schedule required during summer, winter, and spring semester breaks.
