Job summary

Sussex County Community College is seeking a part time Transition and Career Studies (TCS) Classroom Assistant to support instructional, administrative, and student services for the CTP program. The assistant helps facilitate classroom instruction, student learning, and campus engagement.

Responsibilities include assisting faculty, providing individualized academic support, helping with organization, note-taking, technology use, and program operations, plus data entry and maintaining student

Qualifications

  • Associate degree preferred; or relative work experience.
  • Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, college students, or diverse learners is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Three to five years of teaching experience; proficient oral, written skills and computer skills; the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations; and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and individuals in the development of educational programs.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth for self and for personnel they lead.

Responsibilities

  • Assist faculty during classroom instruction, laboratory activities, and experiential learning.
  • Provide individualized academic support and reinforce instructional materials as directed by faculty.
  • Assist students with organization, note-taking, technology use, assignment completion, and classroom participation while encouraging student independence.
  • Support implementation of accommodations and learning strategies identified by the Program Supervisor and Accessibility Services.
  • Monitor student attendance and assist with maintaining accurate program records and documentation.
  • Assist with preparation, organization, and distribution of instructional materials and classroom resources.
  • Provide administrative support, including data entry, filing, copying, scheduling assistance, and maintaining student records.
  • Support student engagement activities, campus events, internships, and career exploration experiences
  • Communicate professionally with faculty, staff, students, and external partners while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and College policies.
  • Assist with orientation sessions, recruitment events, and other program-related activities as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and objectives of the Transition and Career Studies Program

Sussex County Community College is seeking part time Transition and Career Studies (TCS) Classroom Assistant. The Classroom Assistant provides instructional, administrative, and student support services that promote student success, engagement, and independence for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities enrolled in the College's Comprehensive Transition and Postsecondary (CTP) program. Working under the direction of the Program Supervisor and faculty, the assistant helps facilitate classroom instruction, student learning, campus engagement, and daily program operations.
