Job summary

Discovery Behavioral Health in Fairfax, VA is seeking a part-time Behavioral Health Tech to support patients from admission through discharge. You will assist with daily routines, monitor safety, and help implement treatment plans under clinical supervision.

The role emphasizes crisis response, patient education, and coordination with nursing staff. On-site work with evenings shift 2pm-10pm, Sunday through Tuesday, requiring CPR/First Aid and CPI training within onboarding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• High School Diploma (or equivalent) preferred.
• Two or more years experience working within the mental health, substance use or eating disorder field required.
• Valid and unrestricted State Driver's License
• Must obtain and maintain CPI certification within 90 days of hire, training provided
• Must obtain and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid, along with Food Handling/Safety certification within 30 days of hire, training provided
• Substance Use Division: Minimum 1 year sobriety if in recovery
• Eating Disorder Division: Minimum 1 year recovery from eating disorder if in recovery

Responsibilities

• Adheres to all DBH policies and procedures.
• Provides exemplary customer service to all patients.
• Facilitates patient daily needs per program schedule, including wake/bedtime routines and hygiene.
• Assists Nursing staff with duties as directed (e.g., patient supervision, vitals).
• Recognizes, responds to, and assists in crisis situations and provides interventions as appropriate.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information and records.
• Completes all shift notes and group notes by end of shift.
• Maintains organized and safe environment; basic housekeeping duties.
• Facilitates and leads daily groups as directed by facility leadership.
• Provides transportation services including patient transportation/supervision, errands, shopping, admits, outings, etc. (must be pre-qualified to drive a company vehicle).
• Attends all staff meetings and in-service trainings.
• Supports patient during admission and discharge processes.
• Eating Disorder Division: supervise/mealtime; adhere to CFD Clinical Model and Dietary CARE model.
• Residential Treatment Only: passing medicine may be required where permissible; training provided.
