Job summary

Plainfield Park District is seeking a part-time Horse Barn Coordinator at the Equestrian Center to support lessons, care for horses, and assist students and patrons. This role focuses on customer service and barn operations in a welcoming environment.

The position requires weekday morning availability and Saturday shifts from 7am to 1pm. Pay starts at $15-$18 per hour, plus a PARC fitness membership, and prior horse experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 16 yrs old (preferably 18).
• 3-5 years practical experience in equine field.
• High School diploma / GED preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• General knowledge of horses required.
• Must be customer service oriented.
• Ability to follow direction and work independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist park district patrons at the Equestrian Center.
• Assist Equestrian Manager with supervising volunteers and students.
• Provide a friendly, positive atmosphere for patrons.
• Answer patron inquiries in person and by phone.
• Distribute paperwork for lessons, rentals, and training as assigned.
• Monitor and assist with student lessons ensuring safety procedures are followed.
• Maintain communication with the Equestrian Manager and report issues.
• Assist with horse care and stable movement during lessons.
• Help with barn chores, scheduling, events, and facility cleanliness.
• Complete incident reports and coordinate with management as needed.
