Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College is seeking Lab Technicians to support EMT and Paramedic Science programs in a hands-on lab setting at the South Bend-Elkhart campus. Two tracks exist: EMT Lab Technician and Paramedic Lab Technician, with credential requirements varying by track.

The role emphasizes safety, student-centered learning, and accurate skill assessments. Responsibilities include assisting instructors, setting up labs, documenting student progress, and maintaining equipment.

Qualifications

• Must have EMT or Paramedic credentials as required for the chosen track.
• For EMT track: Indiana EMT Certification; for Paramedic track: Indiana Paramedic License.
• Preferred qualifications include advanced EMS certifications and instructional credentials.

Responsibilities

• Assist faculty during laboratory sessions and support student practice.
• Conduct skills check-offs according to program rubrics and standards.
• Prepare, set up, maintain, and tear down laboratory equipment and materials.
• Maintain a clean, organized lab and report equipment or supply issues.
• Document student participation and skills assessment results.
• Ensure adherence to lab safety, infection control, and emergency procedures.
• Interact professionally with students, faculty, and staff per Ivy Tech policies.
• Support an inclusive, student-centered learning environment.
• Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.
