Job summary

RISE Services LLC in Woodbridge, VA seeks an Employment Specialist to help individuals with disabilities obtain competitive employment. This part-time, community-based role involves individualized support, employer outreach, job development, and on-the-job coaching across Woodbridge and Stafford.

You will assess client strengths, help with resumes and interviews, build relationships with employers, and document progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, human services, or related field.
• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or barriers to employment.
• Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and seek guidance when needed.
• Comfort approaching employers and building professional relationships.
• Patient, respectful coaching while encouraging independence.
• Ability to use electronic systems for scheduling, communication, and documentation.
• Knowledge of employment resources, workplace accommodations, or vocational rehabilitation is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Develop individualized employment goals by assessing clients’ strengths, interests, and support needs.
• Build job readiness through resumes, applications, interviews, and workplace communication.
• Actively develop job opportunities by contacting employers and building relationships.
• Support the hiring process: applications, interviews, and employer communication.
• Provide hands-on job coaching at workplaces to build confidence and routines.
• Address employment challenges and coordinate with supervisors and employers.
• Document services with timely notes and progress reports.
• Maintain professional communication with clients, employers, referral partners, and the RISE team.
• Plan client appointments, employer outreach, travel, and documentation.
• Participate in required training and meetings.
