Job summary

Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL is seeking a part-time Emergency Preparedness professional to lead and coordinate the hospital’s ongoing preparedness activities. You will oversee the Emergency Preparedness Program, develop and support committees, and ensure readiness through HICS/NIMS implementations and regular exercises.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Emergency Management or EMT-P licensure, 3–4 years in related fields, and preferred NHDP-BC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management or equivalent, or licensed EMT-P.
• 3-4 years of experience in Emergency Department, field paramedic, or emergency preparedness.
• NHDP-BC certification preferred.
• FEMA IS Courses 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, and 800 within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, coordinate and manage the Emergency Preparedness Program.
• Develop the Emergency Preparedness Committee and provide support to related committees.
• Develop, monitor, and evaluate HICS and NIMS implementations.
• Collaborate with disciplines to oversee local/regional exercises (surge, PPE, decontamination, isolation, lab, pharmacy, communications, bioterrorism).
• Coordinate with local/regional hospitals and agencies for regional disaster planning and MOUs.
• Participate on committees such as Emergency Management, Environment of Care, Infection Prevention, Nursing Leadership.
• Plan, direct hazmat activities and education.
• Develop educational programs for Emergency Preparedness.
• Act as liaison during emergencies and document per regulatory requirements.
• Monitor OSHA, accrediting bodies, and hazmat training compliance.
