Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management or equivalent, or licensed EMT-P.
• 3-4 years in Emergency Department, field paramedic or emergency preparedness.
• Leadership experience preferred; NHDP-BC or FEMA courses are advantageous.
• Strong organization, written communication, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, coordinate and manage the operational activities of the Emergency Preparedness Program.
• Develops the Emergency Preparedness Committee and supports planning initiatives.
• Develop, plan, monitor, and evaluate HICS and NIMS.
• Oversee local/regional exercises including surge, PPE, decontamination, isolation, lab, pharmacy, communications, and bioterrorism plans.
• Collaborate with local/regional hospitals and agencies for regional disaster preparedness planning.
• Participate on committees such as Emergency Management, Environment of Care, Infection Prevention, and Nursing Leadership.
• Plan, direct, coordinate and manage hazmat activities and education.
• Develop educational programs for Emergency Preparedness and act as liaison during emergencies.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies for hazmat training.
