Job summary

Covenant Health Fort Loudoun Medical Center is seeking a Patient Registration Specialist for the Emergency Department. The role focuses on fast, accurate ED registrations, collecting demographics and insurance details, and ensuring smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities include verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, and guiding patients through consent forms and Medicare processes. A 24/7 operation requires flexibility for night shifts and on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months customer-facing/customer service experience.
• Basic computer skills required for daily tasks and data entry.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred for related fields.

Responsibilities

• Perform Quick Registration for Emergency Department encounters promptly.
• Coordinate front desk patient flow and notify triage/charge nurse of urgent situations.
• Complete full registration with demographic and financial information per EMTALA guidelines.
• Collect co-payments and deposits; generate receipts; post cash transactions.
• Explain consent for treatment, advance directives, and Medicare forms to patients/families.
• Adhere to de-escalation procedures and contact appropriate resources when needed.
• Utilize ED Tracking board to monitor and update registration status for each patient.
• Provide demographic and billing information to Ambulance Services as required.
• Rotate on-call and holiday schedule to meet 24/7 department demands.
• Assist acute nursing floors with bed assignments, PIN corrections, and related tasks.
