Applitrack in Brookhaven, NY seeks an Instructional Paraprofessional - Elementary to support classroom objectives and IEP goals. This non-contract, no-benefits position is 4 hours per day, totaling 20 hours per week, with pay lanes: Untrained at $15.69/hour (Lane 5) or trained at $16.70/hour (Lane 6, after in-district training).

The role includes assisting teachers, supervising students, completing trainings within 3 months, and maintaining materials and records in a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Age 16+.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must complete mandatory employee training within the first 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and materials under supervising teacher to support and reinforce objectives and IEP goals.
• Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional for student health needs.
• Administers tests, homework, make-up work to support teachers.
• Assists data collection to monitor student progress.
• Assists students with self-care activities to maintain personal hygiene.
• Assists students individually or in groups with lessons to reinforce concepts and reach standards.
• Attends job trainings and meetings for information relative to job functions.
• Communicates with instructional staff to evaluate progress and implement IEP/504 objectives.
• Models appropriate social behavior for students.
• Implements behavioral plans identified in IEPs.
• Maintains instructional materials and records and classroom equipment.
• Monitors students during periods to maintain safe learning environment.
• Performs clerical duties for efficient operations.
• Provides instruction to students in activities to reinforce objectives and IEP/504 plans.
• Reports observations and incidents to appropriate personnel.
• Supervises and escorts students to/from classes for safety.
