Job summary

Evergreen Public Schools Endeavour Elementary School in Vancouver, Washington is seeking a Classroom Paraeducator to assist the classroom instructor with supervision of students, support instructional activities, and work with individuals and small groups to help meet course outcomes. Position is permanent/part-time with 7 hours per day (8:05 AM - 3:35 PM, 30 min unpaid lunch) and 190 days per year.

Salary placement starts at the minimum hourly rate; benefits include SEBB health/dental/vision

Qualifications

• Basic typing/keyboarding.
• Experience working with students in academic areas.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.
• Ability to supervise students.
• Flexibility, initiative, cooperativeness and confidentiality.
• Willingness to learn computer skills.
• Ability to operate office equipment.
• Ability to perform under constant interruptions.
• Physical strength to handle potentially aggressive behavior.
• Ability to establish positive relationships as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom instructor in supervising and working with students.
• Communicate effectively with students and support learning activities.
• Help establish and maintain a productive learning environment.
• Assist in evaluating and guiding instruction to maximize student potential.
• Maintain accurate data on student progress and test scores.
• Assist in administering and scoring tests.
• Apply behavioral management strategies as directed by the teacher.
• Prepare instructional materials as needed.
