Job summary

The City of Carson is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant III – Early Childhood Teacher's Aide to support preschool activities. Work hours run five days a week, 12:00 noon to 5:30 PM with a half-hour lunch; schedule may vary.

This at-will position targets students who enjoy working with young children in a collaborative setting. Applicants must complete 30 college semester units (12 in ECE) and hold a valid American Red Cross First Aid certificate, plus one year of leadership in early

Qualifications

• Completion of 30 college semester units which must include at least 12 semester units of ECE coursework
• Valid American Red Cross Standard First Aid certificate
• One year of leadership experience in early childhood programming

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing educational, recreational and other enrichment activities to pre-school children
• Provides a safe and positive learning environment
• Maintains instructional areas in a neat, clean and orderly condition
• Provides instructions, demonstrations and activities as appropriate to assigned age group
• Supervises students on educational and recreational excursions
• Participates in a variety of community and classroom activities and events
• Performs related duties as required.
