Job summary

The City of Carson is seeking Recreation Assistant III to help supervise varied recreational programs and activities at a recreation center. They may lead games, supervise youth and adult groups, and assist during special events.

The role includes providing first aid when needed and supporting sport officials on urgent assignments. The position is part-time/temporary, at-will, with a 960-hour annual cap, and may offer health coverage and sick leave accruals per federal and state rules.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of thirty (30) semester units at a recognized college with a major in recreation or related field and approximately six (6) months of leadership experience in a variety of recreation activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising youth and adult activities at a recreation center.
• Teach fundamentals of play and sportsmanship in sports and free play activities.
• Explain, demonstrate and lead new and original games.
• Assist in supervising non-athletic events and programs such as contests, dances, and special events.
