Job summary

MassBay Community College seeks qualified part time instructors for future semesters to teach Early College and early college-related courses in first-year composition in high schools within our service area, including, but not limited to Framingham, Waltham, and Milford.

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have a desire to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in English.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Community College experience strongly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
• Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning.
• Demonstrated ability to use information technology effectively.

Responsibilities

• Teach dual enrollment high school students in area high schools, including Framingham, Waltham, and/or Milford.
• Provide instruction during high school hours of operation when necessary.
• Work in collaboration with MassBay and/or high school faculty and others to prepare syllabi and develop curricula in alignment with the vision and needs of the College, high schools and early college initiatives.
• Meet regularly at the posted class times and teach assigned courses using effective instructional strategies that promote student learning and preparation.
• Use appropriate assessment methods consistently and regularly to measure student understanding in line with accreditation and College standards.
• Engage in professional development activities to learn current practices concerning education generally as well as early college initiatives.
• Utilize the appropriate learning management system for either the College or high school as needed.
• Attend meetings and submit reports or information as requested consistent with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Maintain excellent communication with students, department and division staff throughout the semester.
• Submit syllabi, midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates.
• Carry out other related duties as assigned by the College, high school, and/or early college liaisons consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and college policies, practices, and procedures.
