Job summary

MassBay Community College seeks qualified part-time instructors to teach in-person Introductory and Intermediate Spanish Language courses on the Wellesley and Framingham campuses. The ideal candidate will deliver course materials in a learner-centered environment and communicate effectively with students and colleagues.

The position requires a Master’s degree and commitment to excellence in teaching, with a focus on student success, assessment, and timely feedback.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Spanish language, second language acquisition, linguistics, education, or related field.
• Fluency in foreign language.
• Knowledge, understanding, and experience teaching of foreign cultures.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Community College experience strongly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
• Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning.
• Demonstrated ability to use information technology effectively.

Responsibilities

• Prepare syllabi and develop curricula to address course/program requirements and student learning outcomes to meet graduation competencies as appropriate.
• Use appropriate assessment methods consistently and regularly to measure student understanding.
• Maintain excellent communication with students, department and division staff throughout the semester.
• Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence in teaching and learning.
• Submit midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates.
• Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
